Could you tell us about the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth?

증산 상제님은 이 세상에 오셔서, 천리 天理 와 지리 地理 와 인사 人事 에 합리적인 최선 의 방법으로 새 세상의 판도를 짜 놓으셨습 니다. 그걸 천지공사 天地公事 라고 합니다. 묶어서 말하면, 인류의 과거 역사를 재료로 삼아, 상제님의 대이상향을 실현할 수 있는 앞 세상의 운수를 짜 놓으신 겁니다.

Jeung-san Sangjenim came to this world, and in the most rational and well-thoughtout way, used the principles of heaven, earth, and humanity to lay a path to a new world. This is what we call the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth (Cheonjigongsa). In short, using the history of humankind as the raw material, he made his ideal of the future become a reality.

상제님은 원신 寃神 , 역신 逆神 을 비롯하여, 인류 문명 발전에 공헌했던 문명신 文明神 , 특 정 지역을 주재하는 지방신 地方神 , 각 민족, 각 성씨의 씨족신 등을 두루 포괄하는, 신명 정부 神明政府 즉 조화정부 造化政府 를 조직했 습니다. 그런데 이 일이 워낙 큰일이 되기 때 문에, 신축(1901)년부터 기유(1909)년까 지, 9년 동안이나 그 일을 하신 겁니다.

Sangjenim formed a government of spirits, the Government of Creation-Transformation, by assembling all the spirits filled with unresolved bitterness and grief, spirits of failed revolutionaries, the preeminent spirits of the world’s civilizations, all the world’s regional spirits, all family lineages’ ancestral spirits. Because this work was so vast, it took nine years to complete, 1901 to 1909.

세상의 크고 작은 일이 다 신명정부에서 프로그램 짜여진 대로 그렇게 진전되는 겁 니다. 천지공사의 내막을 아는 사람만이 이 세상이 앞으로 어떻게 돌아간다는 것을 알 수 있습니다. 20세기 역사는 우주 여름에서 우주 가을로 넘어가는 과도기 역사입니다. 과거 선천 세상 동안 쌓이고 쌓인 그 숱한 원 과 한을 해소시켜, 새 세상을 여는 준비를 하 는 과도기 과정입니다.

All events, great and small, proceed according to the program of this government of spirits. Only those who know the secrets of the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth can know what the future is going to be. The history of the twentieth century is one of transition ? the transition from cosmic summer to cosmic autumn. Through this process of transition, the bitterness and grief accumulated throughout the Early Heaven are resolved and all conditions are met for a new world to come.

우리가 살고 있는 이 시점은 하추교역기夏秋交易期다.
The transition from the Early Heaven to the Later Heaven marks a complete transformation in the order of heaven and earth and in the culture of civilization.
선천에서 후천으로 간다고 하는 것은 천지질서와 천지문화가 확 달라지는 것을 뜻한다.
