태을주는 전부 스물 세 글자로 구성돼 있다. 끝 부분 “사파하∼”는 그 동안 불가에서 주문의 후렴구로 많이 써 온 문구로서, 그걸 떼어버리면 스무 글자다. 이 스무 글자 가운데 “훔치훔치” 넉 자는 머리에, “태을천 상원군” 여섯 글자는 태을주의 몸체, 심장에 해당하고, “훔리치야도래 훔리함리” 열 글자는 태을주의 팔다리와 같다.

The Taeeulju Mantra consists of twenty-three syllables. If we exclude the three syllables sa-pa-ha , a phrase frequently chanted as a refrain in Buddhism, the mantra has twenty syllables. Of these, the first four syllables, Hoom-chi Hoom-chi , are the mantra’s head; the next six, Tae-eul-cheon Sang-won-gun , are its torso and heart; and the remaining ten    syllables, Hoom-nichi-ya-do-rae Hoom-ni-ham-ni , are its arms and legs.

세속의 어떤 명곡이라 해도 들을 때 기분 좋고 감동을 주는 것이지 지속되는 게 아니다 . 그런데 주문은 읽을수록 더 힘차 고 , 읽을수록 더 강건해지고 , 읽을수록 더 영원한 기쁨을 얻고 영원한 생명을 얻는 다 . 무궁한 천지조화 생명의 바다 속에 쑥 들어가서 거기서 완전한 새로운 몸과 마음 으로 태어난다 . 진정한 깨달음을 얻고 인류 원형문화시대 , 황금시절의 우주 광명 인간으로 다시 태어나는 것이다 .

A beautiful musical score touches the human heart, but that emotional feeling from secular music is only temporary and does not last forever. But from hour to hour and from day to day, the more the mantra is chanted, the more the mind and body grow stronger and more resilient, moving closer and closer to permanent contentment, and indeed, to the state of eternal being. Chanting the mantra leads to the gates of the sea of life, the eternal source of heaven and earth’s creation transformation where the mind and body renew. First comes genuine enlightenment, then rebirth as the radiant cosmic human beings that graced the Golden Age of the primordial culture follows.

태을주의 세계를 바르게 알기 위해서는 먼저 “태을주는 개벽기에 쓸 주문이니라.”고 하시며, 태을주 수행을 전 인류를 죽이고 살리는 문제로 말씀하신 증산 상제님에 대해 알아야 한다. 즉 태을주를 알기 위해서는 상제님을 알아야 하고, 증산 상제님을 깊이 알면 알수록 태을주의 조화세계와 태을주의 도에 대해 깊이 깨닫게 되는 것이다.

To correctly understand the Taeeulju Mantra, we must understand Jeung-san Sangjenim, who connected Taeeulju Mantra meditation with the salvation of all humanity.
