A: What is yin and yang? 

B: 동양철학에서는 이 세상을 구성하고 있 는 두 개의 상반된 우주적 힘을 음과 양이 라고 합니다. 음양이 결합한 결과가 바로 현상세계라고 할 수 있습니다. 이 음양의 결합은 모든 물질을 존재하게 합니다. 만물은 음과 양을 모두 가지고 있습니다.

B: Yin and yang are two opposing cosmic forces that make up our world. Our physical world is the result of the fu- sion of yin and yang. This fusion brings all matters into being. All things consist of both yin and yang.

A: 음양의 주요 특성은 무엇인가요? B: 음양에는 네 가지 특성이 있습니다. 첫째, 음과 양은 서로 직접적으로 상반되며 서로를 제한합니다.

A: What are the major characteristics of yin and yang? B: There are four major characteristics of yin and yang. First, yin and yang directly oppose each other while re-straining each other. 

둘째, 음양은 서로 보완해주고 도와주며 서로의 뿌리가 됩니다.

Second, they complement and support each other while becoming the source of each other. 

셋째, 음양은 항상 공존합니다.

Third, yin and yang always co-exist. 

그리고 마지막으로 이 두 힘은 하루의 낮 이 서서히 밤으로 변하는 것과 마찬가지로 시간에 따라 흐르며 변하는 성향이 있습니 다.
