The Autumn Gaebyeok Is Creative Throes of Building a New World
After the Early Heaven of the cosmic spring and summer comes to an end,(봄여름의 선천 세상이 지나고)
the Later Heaven of the cosmic autumn shall dawn,(가을철 후천 세상이 다가온다.)
a time when all things will become mature, harmonious, and unified.(모든 것이 성숙, 조화, 통일되는 시간)
The coming of the Later Heaven is(후천이 오는 것은)
both cosmic providence and a necessity.(우주의 섭리이고 필연이다.)
When the cosmic autumn is about to commence,(우주년의 가을로 들어가면서)
all-encompassing changes will take place,(총체적인 변화가 일어난다.)
overthrowing the framework and order of heaven and earth.(천지의 틀과 질서를 뒤집는)
Such drastic changes in heaven and earth will befall humanity(그 같은 천지의 일대 변화가 인간에게는 닥친다.)
as rigorous tests and ordeals;(혹독한 시험과 시련으로)
and, since these changes are nature’s providence,(그리고 이것은 대자연의 섭리이므로)
human beings will not be able to avoid them.(인간이 피할 도리가 없다.)
Only after humans surmount(인간이 뛰어넘어야)
the changes and accompanying ordeals(그러한 변화와 그로 인한 시련을 (뛰어넘어야))
will they be able to enter the Later Heaven’s world.(그들은 비로소 후천 세상으로 들어갈 수 있다.)
The overall changes that shall occur(일어나는 총체적인 변화)
in the framework and order of heaven and earth(천지 틀과 질서의 (총체적 변화))
at the dawn of the maturing autumn(성숙의 가을을 앞둔 시간에 (일어나는))
—these are gaebyeok.(그것이 바로 개벽開闢이다.)

Reading Points
1. both A and B : A와 B 둘 다
‘A와 B 둘 다’라는 뜻으로, and 앞뒤로는 같은 품사의 단어나 같은 성격의 구 혹은 절을 쓸 수 있습니다.
예: The coming of the Later Heaven is both cosmic providence and a necessity.
후천이 오는 것은 우주의 섭리이고 필연이다.
both A and B가 주어 자리에 오면 주어가 이미 복수가 된 것이므로 뒤에 나오는 동사는 반드시 복수형을 취해야 합니다.
예: Both you and I are wrong.
당신과 나는 둘 다 틀렸군요.
2. since : ~때문에
접속사 since는 두 가지 뜻을 가집니다. 첫 번째는 ‘~한 이후로’ 라는 뜻입니다. 특정 과거 시점 이후로 죽 ~를 계속한다는 것입니다. 이때 주절에는 주로 완료 시제를 씁니다.
예: It's been 147 years since Sangjenim came to earth.
상제님께서 세상에 오신 지 147년이 되었다.
since는 또한 ‘~때문에’라는 뜻도 됩니다. (=because, as )
예: Since these changes are nature’s providence, human beings will not be able to avoid them.
이것은 대자연의 섭리이므로 인간이 피할 도리가 없다.
3. only after + 도치 : 꼭 ~하고 난 후에야
부정어 혹은 only가 포함된 어구 또는 어절이 문장 앞에 도치되면 강조의 의미가 있습니다. 일반적으로 부정어/only 어구를 문두로 보내면 “+ 조동사 + 주어 + 동사”로 조동사를 주어 앞으로 이동시켜 줍니다.
예: Only after humans surmount the ordeals
인간이 그러한 시련을 뛰어넘은 후에야 비로소
will they be able to enter the Later Heaven’s world.
후천 세상으로 들어갈 수 있다.
Only after Sangjenim received Hyeong-ryeol’s pledge three times
상제님께서 형렬의 다짐을 세 번 받으신 후에야 비로소
