Salvation at the Time of Gaebyeok

1. your own : 당신 자신의

☞ own은 동사로 “소유하다”라는 뜻도 있지만, 형용사로 쓰면 소유격+own “(누구) 자신의”라는 뜻으로 소유격의 의미를 강조하게 됩니다. 이때 own 앞에 관사는 쓰지 않습니다.

You can be saved through your own devotion and one mind.

당신은 자기 자신의 헌신과 일심으로 구원받을 수 있습니다.

You must maintain control of your own mind.

너 자신의 마음을 잘 통제해야 한다.

You cannot serve heaven and earth if you do not revere your own parents.

부모를 경애하지 않으면 천지를 섬기기 어려우니라.

2. If you ~, you can(not) : 만약 당신이 ~한다면 ~할 수 있다(없다)

☞ if절이 가정이나 조건을 나타내어 “만약 ~라면”이라는 뜻으로 쓰일 때 조건절이라고 합니다. 조건절과 주절은 서로 위치를 바꿔 써도 괜찮습니다.

You can receive salvation if you purse Sangjenims dao with an extreme devotion to overcome any obstacles.

어떠한 난관도 쾌연히 넘어설 수 있는 지극정성을 가지고 상제님 도를 닦는다면 구원받을 수 있습니다.

If you can dream it, you can become it.

꿈을 가져라. 그러면 성취할 것이다.

If you cannot find your true self, you cannot find heaven and earth.

내가 나를 못 찾으면 이 천지를 못 찾느니라.

3. in preparation (for) : (~의) 준비로

☞ preparation은 “준비하다”라는 뜻의 동사 prepare의 명사형입니다.

In preparation for the uitong, you must in daily life convey Sangjenim’s teachings to six others.

의통 준비를 위해 생활 속에서 상제님의 가르침을 6명에게 전해야 합니다.

Save high quality seeds in preparation for the next spring.

다음 봄을 위해서 질 좋은 씨앗을 남겨두세요.

Deep breathing helps still the mind in preparation for meditation.

깊게 호흡하는 것은 명상을 준비하며 마음을 안정시킬 수 있도록 도와준다.

4. besides : ~외에(도)

☞ beside는 전치사로 보통 “~의 옆에”라는 뜻으로 쓰지만, s를 붙여 besides가 되면 “~외에도”를 의미합니다. 전혀 다른 뜻이 되니 주의하세요.

상제님 가르침을 전하는 것 외에 또 해야 할 것이 있나요?

Besides reducing stress, what other benefits does meditation provide?

A: 과연 누가 가을개벽의 환란을 극복하고 후천에 새 생명을 얻는 주인공이 될 수 있을까요?

B: 조상의 음덕으로 사는 길을 만나게 됩니다.

A: 자기 자신의 노력과 일심으로도 구원을 받을 수 있을까요?

B: 물론이죠. 조상의 음덕이 중요하지만 진리를 들을 수 있는 귀를 크게 열고 어떠한 난관도 쾌연히 넘어설 수 있는 지극정성을 가지고 상제님 도를 닦는다면 구원받을 수 있습니다.

A: Who gets to survive the calamities of the Autumn Gaebyeok and become the one to receive new life in the Later Heaven?

B: You meet the path of life through the devotion and virtues of your ancestors.

A: Can one be saved through their own devotion and one mind, too?

B: Yes, the accumulation of your ancestors' virtue is important but you can also receive salvation if you open your ears to the truth and pursue Sangjenim's dao with an extreme devotion to overcome any obstacles.

B: 개벽철에는 구호대장과 여섯 사람이 의통대권을 집행하여 사람을 살립니다. 그렇기 때문에 그에 대한 준비로 상제님의 도를 여섯 사람에게 전해주는 것이 중요합니다.

A: 구원을 받기 위해 상제님의 가르침을 전하는 것 외에 또 해야 할 일이 있습니까?

B: 태을주를 읽는 것입니다. 태을주는 개벽기에 사람을 살리는 유일한 약입니다. 가을개벽을 맞아 입에서 태을주가 끊어지지 않게 읽어야 합니다.

A: What must we do in our daily life to be born again into the eternal life in a new heaven and earth?

B: During the gaebyeok, six people with a team leader will revive dead people with the great authority of uitong. Therefore, in preparation, you must in daily life convey Sangjenim’s teachings to six others.

A: Is there anything else we should do for our deliverance besides conveying Sangjenim’s teachings?

B: Chanting the Taeeulju Mantra. The Taeeulju Mantra is the only medicine which can save people at the time of gaebyeok. We must ceaselessly chant the Taeeulju Mantra as we face the Autumn Gaebyeok.
