우주 1년의 목적 the purpose of the cosmic year:

과학자들의 지구 환경 변화에 대한 연구가 12만9천6백 년을 단위로 반복되는 우주 1 년을 강하게 뒷받침하고 있습니다.

Scientists’ research on the environmental changes of the earth strongly supports the cosmic year, which repeats every 129,600 calendar years. 

그런데 이 수는 인체의 음양 운동이라 할 수 있는 기혈 氣血 운동에서도 나타납니다. 보통 성인의 하루 호흡수와 맥박수를 합치 면 평균 12만9천6백 회가 됩니다. 우주 1년 의 도수가 12만9천6백 년, 인체의 하루 도 수가 12만9천6백 회! 인간이 살아가는 하루 의 숨결을 나타내는 숫자가 우주 1년의 생명 의 수와 같다는 것은 어떤 오묘한 섭리를 말 해주고 있습니다.

This cycle is also visible in the movement of energy and blood in the human body. If we add up the breaths and heart beats of an average person in one day, they sum to 129,600. One cosmic year is 129,600 years, and the cycle of life of a human being in one day is 129,600 repetitions. The number of breaths and heart pulsations that sustain life is the same as the number that constitutes the cycle of one cosmic year ? this spells out the deepest mystery of life. 

곧 우리 인생의 희망과 절망이 모두 ‘하루 하루 살아가는 삶’ 속에 있고, 인류의 역사 도, 천지의 역사도 인간의 하루에서 시작된 다는 것입니다. 그러므로 우주 가을철에 이루는 궁극의 성공, 천지성공의 성취 여부가 오늘 하루, ‘지금 이 순간’ 당신의 생각과 선택에 달려 있습니다!

Our hopes and despairs are embedded in each and ev- ery day of our lives. Just as human history and even the history of heaven and earth are fashioned by the in- dividual days of human lives, the ultimate success that will come during the cosmic autumn depends on the thoughts and choices that we make today. Whether we attain this success or not genuinely depends on us! 

그렇다면 천지가 1년 사계절로 변화하는 목적은 과연 무엇일까요?

Given this, what is the purpose of the changes that heaven and earth undergo through the cycle of the four seasons?

There was a person who could explain the cosmic year to everyone from elementary school students to philosophers, scientists, and religious teachers ? in plain, easily understood language. He was the late Ahn Un-san, His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim of Jeung san Do. He spent his lifetime teaching and conveying the enlight- ened works of Jeung-san Sangjenim.

일찍이 태상종도사님은 우주 1년의 목적에 대해 이렇게 말씀해 주셨습니다. “천지도 목적이 있다. 그래서 질서정연하 게 둥글어 가는 것이지 그냥 그 속에서 생명 이 왔다 가는 것이 아니다. 그 목적이 뭐냐 하 면 지구 1년은 초목 농사 짓는 것이고, ‘우주 1년은 사람 농사’ 짓는 것이다. 지구 1년이 생장염장 하는 것을 보면, 봄에 씨 뿌리고 싹 을 내서 여름철에 성장시켜 가을철에 추수 를 한다. 그것과 같이 우주 1년은 사람 농사 를 짓는다.”

His Holiness the Taesang Jongdosanim stated the following regarding the purpose of the cosmic year: Heaven and earth have a purpose. In accordance with their pur- pose, heaven and earth unfold in a proper order. What is this purpose? The purpose of one earth year is to harvest plants and trees. The purpose of one cosmic year is to har- vest humanity. If we look at the birth, growth, harvest, and rest cycle of one year on earth, seeds are planted in the spring to sprout, in the summer they are grown, and in the autumn they are harvested. In this way, in accordance with the cycle of one cosmic year, humanity is harvested. 

우주는 결코 맹목적으로 순환하는 것이 아 닙니다. 분명히 그 목적이 있습니다. 바로 사 람 농사를 짓기 위해서 돌아갑니다. 왜 천지 부모는 사람 농사를 짓는 것일까요? 

The universe does not undergo its cycle without a purpose. It definitely has its purpose. That purpose is to grow and harvest humanity. Why do heaven and earth cultivate humanity? 

하늘과 땅을 형상하여 사람이 생겨났나니 만물 가운데 오직 사람이 가장 존귀하니라. (도전 2:23:2)

Born in the image of heaven and earth, the human be- ing is the noblest being in all existence. (Dojeon 2:19:2) 

이 말씀처럼, 그것은 인간이라는 존재가 본래 하늘과 땅을 본떠서 생겨났으며, 하늘 땅의 주인공이 되기 때문입니다.

As the above passage states, humanity is born of heaven and earth, in the shape of heaven and earth. In the end, humanity is the true owner of heaven and earth.  

인간의 형상이 하늘땅과 닮았다는 사실은 과학에서도 입증이 되고 있습니다. 1985년, 미국의 두 천문학자 존 허크라와 마가렛 겔러 가 그동안 밝혀진 우주의 모든 별자리 데이터 를 슈퍼컴퓨터에다 넣고 단추를 누르니까, 이 우주가 놀랍게도 팔다리를 벌리고 서 있는 사람의 모양으로 나오더라는 것입니다. 

The fact that humanity has the shape of heaven and earth has been shown by astronomers. In 1985, when two American astronomers, Dr. John Huchra and Dr. Margaret Geller, produced a map of the universe by enter- ing all known data of the galaxies into a super computer, the universe turned out to exhibit the shape of a person with arms and legs spread.

그런데 천지가 사람 농사를 짓는 보다 궁 극적인 이유는, 장차 천지가 꿈꾸는 이상 세계를 지상에 건설하여 천지성공을 이루어 내 는 주체가 인간이라는 데 있습니다. 천지를 대신하여 지상에 천국을 건설함으로써 천지 의 꿈을 성취하는 것이 바로 인간의 역할입 니다. 인간이 하늘과 땅의 열매로서 인간의 성공이 하늘과 땅의 성공을 결정합니다. 

In the end, heaven and earth grow and harvest human- ity because humanity brings to pass the success of heaven and earth by constructing a paradise on earth. It is the role of humanity to fulfill the dreams of heaven and earth by constructing heaven on earth in place of heaven and earth. Humanity is the fruit of heaven and earth; thus, the suc- cess of humanity determines the success of heaven and earth.

그래서 상제님께서는 “천존 天尊 과 지존 地 尊 보다 인존 人尊 이 크니 이제는 인존 시대니 라”(2:22:1)고 선언을 하셨습니다. 

This is why Sangjenim stated, “Greater than even heaven’s majesty and earth’s majesty is humanity’s maj- esty, and it is now the Era of Humanity’s Majesty” (Dojeon 2:18:1).

이 말씀의 깊은 뜻은 잠시 후에 다시 이야기하겠습니다. (계속)
