인간의 삶 속에는 슬픔과 기쁨 사이를 오가는 운명의 시계추가 있습니다. 이 시계추가 희비의 양극단을 오갈 때 인간은 실의失意 에 빠져 밀려드는 고독과 눈물로 인생을 단련시키기도 하고, 환희와 삶의 보람으로 가슴에 멍울진 아픔을 씻어 내기도 합니다. 기쁨과 슬픔은 태초에 하느님이 내려 주신 고귀한 선물입니다.

The pendulum of destiny swings between sorrow and joy. When this pendulum swings to the extremes of sorrow or joy, our lives may be strengthened by unbearable solitude and tears or purified by the glory and rewards of life. Joy and sorrow are noble gifts given to us by God. 

인간은 한평생을 살면서 몇 번쯤은 운명의 쇠망치에 얻어맞고 슬픔과 충격 속에서 어 찌할 줄 모르는 상황에 직면하게 됩니다. 인생이 뼈아픈 좌절과 허무에 빠졌을 때, 스스로 던지는 가장 진실되고 절박한 물음은 무 엇일까요? 그것은 ‘도대체 산다는 것이 무엇이냐’ 하는 것입니다. 생명의 숨결이 멎는 순간까지 후회하지 않고 가장 값지게 사는 길이 무엇인지 묻게 됩니다. 바로 이러한 인생의 근본 문제에 해답을 열어 주는 것이 종교 입니다. ‘종교를 믿느냐 안 믿느냐’ 하는 문 제를 따지기 이전에, 인간은 이미 종교적 존재로 태어났습니다. 사람은 누구나 인생이라는 낯선 길을 가면서, 본능적으로 이 세계의 신비와 자신의 운명, 그리고 삶과 죽음이 라는 풀기 어려운 의문을 품고 끊임없이 고뇌하며 살아갑니다.

Human life can be struck by the sledgehammer of destiny several times, and people can face situations in which they do not know what to do due to their deep sadness and shock. What is the most sincere and earnest question we ask ourselves when falling into such painful frustration and emptiness? Do we question the meaning of human life? People may seek to discover the most valuable way of life ? one that produces no regret until the moment of their last breath. Religion answers this fundamental question of life. Before considering the question of whether we believe the teachings of a religion, human beings are born religious. All human beings instinctively question the mystery of this world, their destiny, and the difficult questions of life and death living in constant agony as they follow their own life journey. 

그렇다면 지금까지 기성 종교가 전한 가르 침의 핵심은 무엇일까요? 그것은 ‘인생의 근 본을 깨닫고 스스로 새로워지라’는 것입니 다. 진리를 깨달음으로써 영혼은 생명의 빛을 찾아 변화하고 육신은 성결 聖潔 하게 되어 마침내 영원한 우주생명의 근원 자리로 되 돌아갈 수 있습니다. 이것이 인간이 구원받는 생명의 길이었습니다.

What is the key message of the teachings of all pre-existing religions? It is “to realize the origin of life and renew oneself.” Through the enlightenment, our souls can restore the light of life and our bodies can become sanctified so that we can finally return to the origin of eternal cosmic life. This is the way of life that could save us. 

지금까지 기성 종교는 불멸의 생명의 조화 세계로 되돌아가기 위한 구도의 기본자세로 서 강인한 ‘믿음과 실천’을 외쳐 왔습니다. 오직 정성과 믿음, ‘일심 一心 ’을 통해서 영원 한 생명 속으로 들어설 수 있다고 가르친 것 입니다. 이 일심 자리는 천지와 나, 즉 주·객 이 하나로 녹아떨어진 조화 경지입니다. ‘존 재의 가장 깊은 곳’에서 열리는 이 ‘절대 순수의 일심 자리’가 바로 하느님의 마음자리 입니다. 인간이 천지일심 자리에 머무를 때 비로소 신묘한 조화 세계가 열리고 하느님의 영원한 생명의 대광명이 밝게 비쳐 옵니다.

Until now, pre-established religions have preached “strong faith and practice” as the basic means to find dao and thus return to the creative and transformative world of immortality. It is only through sincerity and faith ? “One Mind” ? that we can be taught to enter eternal life. This “One Mind” is a blend of Heaven, Earth, and oneself; it is the place of creation-transformation where the subject and object meld into one. This “one mind of absolute purity” that opens its secret in the “deepest place of being” is the place of God’s mind. When a man stays in the place of One Mind of Heaven and Earth, a mysterious world of creation-transformation opens up and the light of God’s eternal life shines brightly.  

아득한 예로부터 인류는 천지 만물에 깃든 신령스러움을 체험해 왔습니다. 특히 동방 한민족은 신에 대한 영적 체험과 믿음을 인류 시원의 원형문화인 ‘신교 神敎 ’ 문화로 발전시켜 왔습니다. 신교 神敎 는 본래 ‘이신설교 以神設敎 ’라는 말로 신의 가르침으로 ‘나’ 와 ‘세상’을 다스린다는 뜻입니다.

Humanity has experienced spirituality in all things since ancient times. The Eastern Korean people have transformed their spiritual experiences and faith in spirit into a culture of “Spirit Teaching,” an archetypal culture of humankind. Originally denoting “by Spirit, teaching the principle,” Spirit Teaching refers to governing both “I ” and “the world” through the teachings of the Spirit. 

한민족은 대우주 생명력의 본체인 조물주 를 ‘삼신 三神 ’이라 불러 왔습니다. 그 까닭은 조물주 일신 一神 이 현실계에서 3수의 구성 원리에 의해 낳고(조화 造化 ), 기르고(교화 敎 化 ), 다스리는(치화 治化 ) 세 가지 신성의 손길 로 작용하기 때문입니다( 三神卽一神 ). 유·불· 선 삼도 三道 는 삼신의 세 본성에 따라 인류사에 펼쳐진 제2의 종교입니다.

The Korean people refer to the primal source of the great universe’s life force as “ Samsin .” This is because the Creator ? “One Spirit” ( Samsin ) ? acts as the three divine hands of Creation, Edification, and Governance in the real world through three constitutional principles. The teachings of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Immortalism are classified as the second religions established in human history according to the three natures of Samsin . 

신( 一神 )의 ‘3수 정신’을 바탕으로 한 신교를 인류 문화의 뿌리가 된 ‘제1의 원형 종교’(뿌리 문화)라 한다면, 하느님께서 친히 ‘생명의 존재 원리’에 따라 지상에 보내신 공자, 석가, 노자, 예수가 인류를 교화하기 위해 펼친 유·불·선·기독교( 西仙 )는 세계 문명의 원형 종교인 신교에서 분화한 ‘제2의 종교(줄기 문화)’라 할 수 있습니다.  

Spirit Teaching based on “the principle of the number three” of God (One Spirit) is called “the first archetypal religion” (root culture). Accordingly, Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity  (Western Immortalism) established by Confucius, Buddha, Laozi, and Jesus, respectively, can be described as “second religions” (stem culture). Confucius, Buddha, Laozi, and Jesus were sent to earth to educate humanity on the basis of the principle of life and existence by God Himself. As such, these second religions were stemmed from Spirit Teaching, which is the archetypal religion of world civilization.
